A Sunday in Santa Cruz
Nicole had never been to Santa Cruz! What?! I couldn't believe it, so of course we added this to our list of things to do while they were here. We were really lucky that the weather held up for an afternoon at the beach. Brad picked up Hailey in the morning. It was so nice for her to get to visit with Nicole and Dave. They hadn't seen her in person since she was 3! (It's tough to get visits to coordinate). Anywho, we were so happy to have her come for the day. Ava asked Hailey to hold her hand the whole way there. so sweet.
We went to a beach just past Twin Lakes.
It was a little windy and cool, but the girls convinced poor Coley is go down to the water.
they barely flinched at the water's frigidness! It was SO cold!
They were laughing and screeching and jumping together. Ava saying "more more more more" and trying to pull Coley out further.
My lovey, representing the best baseball team ever ;)
Uncle Dave and Daddy joined in the fun. (notice the girls have pulled Coley out a little further)
Mommy tried the water too. My toes were numb within minutes. I looked over at Ava and noticed her little mouth shivering. I insisted at this point that we go make sandcastles instead. Ava was not happy.
here I am taking her back to the blanket
The girls got busy playing in the sand. Hailey is pleading with Ava for her to share a shovel. Poor Hailey. She's such a good sport :)
We relaxed and rested in shifts. Dave was so fun for the girls to play with. They were running and chasing each other around the beach. He was throwing Hailey up in the air...it was kid heaven to have Uncle Dave around. He is going to be such a great dad!
