Truro Part 4: Food!

There are some places you cannot leave Cape Cod without visiting before you leave.
#1 on my list is Mac's on the Pier
(or you could just buy fish and cook it yourself from Mac's Seafood--so delicous).

Wellfleet Oysters on the half shell.
One of my favorite things to eat!

And of course, Lobster rolls, or salad. yum!

And you eat on the beach with this view.
our little lobster baby.
he's got some good leg meat. don't ya think?!

And Sweet Escape
On our way...for homemade ice cream and shave ice.

we also never fail to hit P-town for It's famous fudge and Portuguese Bakery fried dough.
Our bodies scream at us afterward, but it's still worth it.
The week we were there was "bear" week in p-town.
Lots of hairy men walking around.
Nathan's far from hairy, but he's making his bear face trying to fit in ;)

P town monument.
Ava thinks Rapunzel lives in it.

Truro Part 3: sunsets

Green family tradition:
leave the dinner table full of half empty glasses and plates of delicious food,
throw on a sweatshirt, kids already bathed and in their jammies, pile in a car, and drive to the sunset.
They are often breath-taking.
There's very few people on the beach.
The sand is cool on your toes after a hot day.
The breeze & salty mist refreshes your whole self.
And kiddos let out their last ounce of energy jumping off the dunes and running down the beach.
Oh, yes, and take pictures. Lots of them. It's the best light of the day.

what a perfect way to say 'so long' to the day.

Truro Part 2: Coastguard Beach.

We spent most of our days Oceanside because it was low tide in the mid-afternoon.
That means a sand-bar that stretches for a mile down the beach. It's perfect for little beach babes, like Ava. We set up camp at Coastguard Beach every afternoon and played, whale-watched (yes, there were so many whales within eye shot spouting and breaching!), napped, ate, boogie-boarded, and built sandcastles until late afternoon.

even Nathan, though skeptical of the cool water at first, was sitting and splashing in it by the end of the week!

Poppi told Ava nap time stories about princess mermaids that live under the ocean

new cousins lounged next to each other

Ava bossed people around about how to build sandcastles, proving once again how she'll be great at management someday. Possibly even a good defense attorney (she's got great arguments for why her decisions are best) ;)

It was so much fun! Ava caught her first wave on a boogie board. I wish I had it on video, but I was the one pushing her with the wave and letting her go!
This is one of my favorite places on Earth.
I'm grateful my children love it as much as I do.
